Chef's knife

Congratulations! It came out better than I thought it would.
Some improvements could be:

  • the little dot on the outermost layer looks nice on the sketch but materialized it looks like a sign of wear
  • being able to hang the knife would be nice
  • it seems the saya could be much thinner and cover just the blade edge, then it can also fit in a knife block. A magnetic connection is a great idea.

Looks awesome, the proportions have come out really well. How does the handle feel? Is it smooth or textured?

Thanks Andy. It is very smooth. The Micarta is a Phenolic material so the layers of paper and canvas are impregnated with resin. It shapes a lot like Renshape (urethane board).

Nice, the material looks almost like it has textured fibres in it, which I’m guessing are the layers once they’ve been sanded.
