Thinking of ways to make a transport box for my cats that they’ll actually want to go into.

...and an echo-panel box that I can build around my cat and store flat. Material that it can put it’s claws into and with the corners cut out so it doesn’t feel trapped.

That is a fun mini project right there Andy. I think if you had one more render of it all folded up with the cat inside and showing a hand carrying it it could turn into a portfolio piece. It would be easy to make a paper mockup as well. There are some interesting felted PEP products that could be a good material for this. We are doing a project for an architectural interior element company that uses a lot of that material for acoustic wall and ceiling elements so I have been learning a lot about it. You can get it in a lot of thickness and hardnesses from very thin and soft, to thicker and more board like.

‪All folded up. I was planning on sketching the folded up version already, but hadn’t considered it as a mini project for my portfolio. Good idea! A proto of this would be fun too. I’ll have a look into the felted materials, although could you elaborate on ‘PEP’? Is that a type of material or a supplier?

I think it’s probably similar to the ‘echo-panel’ I was thinking of. It’s also compressed fabric acoustic panel. Laser cutting it melts the edge together, which leaves a clean surface that won’t fray.

I think one more ortho sketch gif from the top showing the box building around the cat would help show the intention here.

oh, yeah, it actually is "Echo-Panel" :-) You can CNC drag knife it cleanly on a vinyl cutting machine as well.

We must have felt a similar vibe for the material :) Now I just need to find somewhere to get some!

Thanks Yo!

I made a paper prototype of it today. All seems to work!

Ortho view of the first concept. I think simple forms with tight detailing is going to be the vibe for this project.
