I like a variety of stuff like many here, but often when sketching I prefer silence. This catalyzes my thought process and progression, and allows the design to not be affected by certain moods (I would think metal would influence a design to be sure!)

I listen to pop, rock, RnB, classical, some oldies but mostly jazz.

I don't really do sketches but when I need to focus, I don't like to switch on the music, only during breaks I will try to ease the mind with jazz or classical.

As I have finally bought a mass storage MP3 player (been using a 2 gig device for many years - and still will for sports), I'm going through my many CD notebooks and ripping the majority of CD's I have.

I'm very curious what albums/musicians will get new life. So far rediscovering my jazz collection has piqued the most interest.

Truer to the subject line, getting play these days:
Galatic
Osborn Anderson
Hybrid's newish one "Disappear Here"
Live Bob Schneider is always near the surface of the cue.

Waiting for Underworld's new one but just realized its release is further away than I thought, but been listen to their older stuff.
