Rubber Grip/ Cannot find a solution!

We are looking to manufacture ski poles but we have an issue.

We do not want typical grips with finger indentations, or PVC dip material we are wanting a grip exactly like this or close to this: GripWorks | Foam Hand Grips

However, the OD of the ski pole is 18mm, the ID of the grips we are finding are 22mm (bicycle grips). This particular grip fits well up until the bottom inch of the grip then it is a tad bit to loose.

We do not have the funds ($4K to $8K) or time for design, tooling, etc… and we are looking for a pre-made pretty much exactly like the grip linked above in bright colors.

Is their a rubber epoxy filler or does anyone have any other ideas for something inexpensive for a production run of our product?

Just so we’re clear on this… you’re asking a bunch of professional product designers to offer you a solution (their time) … for free (no money)?

Have you tried contacting vendors and seeing what they can offer. Most vendors have open molds that you can use. I’m sure you could find a bicycle grip with a 18mm ID just have to make a few calls/emails.

Find a piece of plastic tubing that has a 18mm ID, a 22mm OD, and slap it on there with some contact cement.

OR just cut the 1" that is loose off.

You’ll probably have a hard time finding a smaller bike grip given that the 7/8" OD of most bike handlebars has been standardized for a very long time.

You can make you own silicone mold for not the much $ or time. There are tutorials on YouTube.

Gap filling resins sound like they would do the job. Epoxy can be rubber filled, or filled with almost anything. Acrylic resins, rubber o-ring at the bottom edge.
