Hi All -
I’m one of your humble writers from Core77’s front page. I’m leaving my home base in Boston for a week of adventuring around NYC! I want to know: where should I go? What stores? What museums? What events?
What is design in NYC? What are the coolest buildings?
What do you want to see written up on Core77? If you want me to stop by your firm/store/party - let me know!
BTW Cooper Hewitt is closed for the year, so that idea’s out…
Looking forward to some good suggestions!

a few to get you started:
My friends and I are taking a train to New York over spring break (March 21-28). Half of our group are architecture majors so they want to check out a lot of the buildings. The other half are industrial design majors. I was wondering if anyone has any tips on must-see design events, places, exhibits?
I will be in NYC on Monday all day and was looking for some suggestions of places to check out… I’m not talking about touristy or “signature” NYC places, but rather Design related places… galleries/shows/collectives ?
Are there any exhibitions up that I should see?
I know this is kind of a ridiculous request, so I’ll take what I can get I suppose… thanks!
I’m headed to NYC next week. Anybody have some good recommendations for the best sneaker spots or boutique shops to hit up? Much appreciated!

It’s been a good 12 years since I was last in New York and would greatly appreciate any suggestions of good places to visit, or perhaps even some offers from ID firms to play host?

I’m getting married next week and going to New York for the honeymoon. While I’d love to spend days and days checking out various museums, stores, neighborhoods etc… the wife isn’t a designer and as a result my time spent on “design related sightseeing” will be somewhat limited.
We will definitely go to MoMA, and neighborhoods like SoHo and TriBeCa will appeal to us both - she will shop and check out the buildings and I will just check out the buildings.
Given that I’m goin…
I just stayed at 60 Thompson a week or so ago, was great. The Ace has been a fantastic place to stay as well and worth it to check out the scene at night there. Near the Highline, another must see.
