QWERTY keyboard–the key placement was originally designed to slow people down so the typewriter won’t jam. A lot of the keys too used to relate to typewriter mechanics: TABs were actual tabs you set on the carriage. SHIFT is something the printhead would do, RETURN would return the printhead to the original carriage location.
