Another naive question. What's the significance of torching the stick man- Is it a gift to the gods, a celebration of some eclipse, or just the grand finale to a big party? Just wondering, obviously never been there.

I always thought hippie pot-smokers went to Burning Man. Hauling a bunch of wood out to the desert and torching seems like a real harm to the environment.

Yeah! That's the best idea yet! It would be so cheap compared to the massive security involved now.

But of course, half of the point of these meetings it face time with the public in public places (even though you can't see or go near any of them...)
