Design research survey for the waiting room experience.

In the industrial design field (product design), which is my interest, I’ve found these solutions:
Information Technology: digital tablets for medical assistants and doctors for managing medical records, medical billing and practice management.
Self check-in kiosks. Flat screens for advertising and information.
Furniture: specific cases of chairs for bariatric patients.
Telemedicine: Remote diagnostics equipment that would eliminate the waiting room.

What alternative ways/methods can there be to improve the patient’s experience and at the same time make the process more efficient?
