I actually had some thoughts of making the lanyard an adjustable elastic strap you could tighten around your hand as needed. I find on long runs (20k+) I keep moving the bottle around as it empties and my hand gets tired. Something minimal to wrap around the hand or wrist might be good. Could also be used to kinda strap gels into the bottle hand as I find I often end up carrying a lot trying to get my fuel as well as hydration. Last long run I had 2x 500ml soft bottles and 6x Endurance Tap gels.
