I was actually not thinking negative heel. The opposite. Increased heel drop (more heel stack) would give you a less flexed foot and less stretched achilles and calf muscle going up... (I think)

Right, to offset running up hills on tip toes correct? When I sprint up a hill I'm usually only touching my toes to compensate for the climb. This would make sense on an extended hill climd. But you would have to have a corresponding downhill set, or flip the wedge around so you don't feel like you are going to fall downhill. :-)

Ade, you inspired me to do a time-lapse of an illustrator render.... I think I'll do a slower version with voice over on this, I'll try to record it tomorrow or early next week.

#nice! i saw i bunch of little details that i could make use of!! did you switch over to ps for the textures?
Yes, good catch. I have a file full of scanned materials. I took that mesh I was using in the toe, opened it in photoshop, and used the warp transform tool to make it feel like wraps a bit. Then copy pasted that over to illustrator and used the vamp shape as a mask, and put it behind the gradients.

It's been -20C up to -30C with the windchill here in Toronto lately....

Canada Goose recently bought Baffin boots. Interested to see what they do with the brand.

Sketch concept just for fun.

This was an earlier concept I was working on. I got 90 minutes in and just started to hate it.

My concept for the Air Max Sketchwars. Air Max hasn't been used on a real performance running shoe in forever (ever?), so dialed up a Nike 6% Elite concept with React Midsole, S curve Carbon Fiber plate with double stacked heel Air Max, forefoot ZoomX and ZoomAir with some added air for ankle and achilles cushioning for fun.
