BMW 4 Series.... BMW is back!

Australian BMW M235 advert is some serious car porn. Side note, this was banned from Australia for showing too much reckless driving… what happened down there?

Funny. Looks like it might have been shot in the US.

Saw a white one in person the other day. Super hot on the road. Looked like the guy was having a ton of fun through cloverleaf intersections.

Sat in the M235 at the autoshow last week. Love it - not even sure I’d want the more hardcore M2 as a daily driver given how good the N55 engine and dynamic suspension are.

I watched a review of the M235 vs the 10 year old but legendary M3CS and the track times were identical down to the fractions of a second… of course the road feel and flatness on the M3CS were much better but the braking on 235 made up for it… the reviewer recommended buying both of course.

I just laughed when I read this thread 2 years later.

Guess I sold myself long before I realized it.

(new ride)

Beautiful new ride!!

I sold Gretchen (my 95 M3) this past fall and am driving my X5 until I find the right CTSv wagon (2011-2014). I’m just old enough to qualify for the Caddy lifestyle. :stuck_out_tongue:

5 years have passed.

Allow me to nominate the BMW design team for the Core77 annual awards in showing how design always works on the sociological, historical backgrounds of the times being. A flawed culture spawns highlights like this.

But the Cybertruck betters this, I must admit.

Industrial Design has the power to be much more. I vow to DO better than I did the last 5 years. This is my last rant.

mo-i

Are they platform sharing with the Ford Mustang now? I think I prefer the Mustang bumper though. Times must be tough in Munich…

More thoughts:

  1. Did they get rid of front plates in Germany? I think BMWs always integrated the front plates fairly well. This says, “opps…forgot”

  2. Door panel is actually kinda cool. Although, BMW has been rocking this aesthetic for awhile. I like all those chamfers popping out the different forms.

  1. The surfacing looks like if you took a Mazda 3 and imagined what it’s predecessor looked like. It’s weird how Bangle BMW was literally leading design trends. This car looks like it’s following a few years late.

Also, why dump the hoffmeister kink? From the firewall back on this sideview it reads, “Audi” to me.

This thread just makes me miss my 2 series even more.

Sweet Infiniti.

RE front plate.

Yep - an Infiniti coupe and a Mustang had a baby. It’ll only speak German and refuses to look at it’s family history. Hoffmeister who? Form follows what? Yeah my nose is big and my nostrils have gone awry, what of it?

If I had to buy a BMW today it would either be an older used model or a new M2. That’s about it. :frowning:

A worthy and noble goal, I salute you.

So, so, so much garbage all over the front. I don’t want to hear for a second about where all this crap is directing airflow. Its made even more obscene by the relative lack of such garbage on the sides, top, hood, and rear lid. I mean, go all the way with faux metal appliques, why stop at the down road graphic?

Rear quarter panel transition reminded me more of last gen Honda Accord. Not bad, if you’re Honda.

The Q60 isn’t bad, mho. Not exactly my cup of tea, but it’s not aggressively offensive as this 4 series is.

FFS. Nothing good here. Half Mustang, Acura, Audi, Kia… nothing BMW.

I’m starting another thread. Great brands that went to shit.

You aren’t kidding.

(sorry MD… I hit the edit post button by accident…)

and this is all I see here:

I actually do that all the time and I’m like, back away slowly. Luckily I’ve always caught myself before I hit post so I can undo it… for us mods, the quote post and edit post buttons are too close together ;-D
