Bajaj Re 60

Hey guys,

does anyone know more about this project?

The indian “tuktuk” auto rickshaw manufacturer Bajaj unveiled this week their
new 4 wheeler project. Under the pressure of the Tata Nano presentation they
startet to develop their own interesting interpretation of a small car
(which they don’t call a car) for emerging markets.

What struck me most is their claim of the use of a metal plastic hybrid body to reach their
goals of 400kg light weight for the body.

Does anyone here know more about it or can provide online news that go into more technical
detail?

What technology is used? DuPonts fairly new MetaFuse™ nanocrystalline metal/polymer hybrid
or something else?

““It’s not a car, it’s a four-wheeler,” said Rajiv Bajaj at the unveiling of the RE60, explaining that the vehicle is designed to “ferry people in cities” much like the brand’s three-wheeled auto-rickshaws, of which there are more than five million across India.”

Not calling it a car so to avoid expensive crash testing compliance maybe?

Nothing on their website as far as I can see:
