all/any advice/critique/feedback welcome! guess i’m at a bit of a crossroads, been designing sneakers for about a decade…been on the sidelines for a year or three, trying to get back in the swing of things, preferably back in footwear but also open to adjacent/lateral career paths (tho i suppose i gotta broaden the knowledge/skillset!) but not really sure what the expectation is for depth on websites these days?

…also this post may self destruct…

-I like the cover page with all of the sketches. It might be worth trying a page with the same images but static, as the animations are pretty intense. I imagine you will change the ‘under construction’ button to say work or folio or something.

-I think you should get rid of the banner that just says ‘works’ and have the ‘the.work’ and thumbnails higher on the page so that they are right in front of my face.

-When I click on a thumbnail (‘Running’), it takes me to another category page (pump.revealed), which I have to click again to see your actual project content. I would have all of your work on the front page as individual projects, and then tag them as running or trail etc. on the thumbnail. It’s one less step to get to the work.

-The navigation links on my 13" screen are bunched up on the right hand side and are stacking on top of each other.

-I’d move the c.v. to be the last menu link on the page too. The button alignment is a bit off on this page. If you look at the bottom buttons, the left one is aligned with the left edge of your website, but the right button is aligned with the right edge of the text. It works for the text, so I’d move the bottom left button to align with the left side of the text.

-How do I actually contact you directly from the website?

I don’t know anything about footwear, so I can’t comment on it. Good luck!

appreciate the feedback, definitely helps…so much thanks! formatting has been a lil’ wonky as the website template adjusts to the display of the particular device & size of window; i need to be more aware of that. initially i had it structured as without the subcategories but i thought might be too simple…but maybe it should be more direct?

my guess is a good amount of the 1st contact is by folk who don’t know much about footwear, so your opinion as a ‘layperson’ is as good as any!

thanks again for taking the time to give me some notes!!

It is not immediately clear that we need to click on ‘Under construction’ to get to your website, just make it something like ‘Portfolio’. Even better is to finish the site as much as possible before asking feedback

Your presentation style is a bit loud but I like your design work. You can be very confident about that.
I would remove the fading on the sketches of your first page to let them speak more. Design-wise the footwear specialists on this forum will be better able to give you feedback…

thanks! yea, definitely would be better to show a completed thing…just felt like i’d been looking at it too long and i thought maybe having some different eyes might be good; to which it has helped me see some issue that i didn’t see and others hadn’t mentioned…

i’m a bit torn on the concept of the landing page, at 1st it was out of necessity as it was basically the whole website…but it has somewhat surprisingly been a noted positive thing (which now could be only relative to the rest of the website) so i just kept it. thanks for the storyboard suggestion, makes sense…still figuring what i should show and the audience
