Hey everyone_

The moderator team just wanted to let you know we are trying our best to get Spam under control on here, including some new strategies.

In the mean time, you may have noticed a new "report" button in the upper right hand of topic posts. Please use that. When you click on that "Report" button, it puts a red flag up on our moderator control panels.

Thanks for your help and patience.

Looks like this feature got lost in the redesign. The only time I see it is on posts of my own (like I'm going to report my own post as spam...) Just a heads up.

Ohoy.

So when these kind of spam floods enter the boards, are you moderators able to delete a user and all their post in a single action, or is it better if all their posts are reported for direct access?

I guess there are differences between Admins and moderators, in regards to deleting multiple post, so who usually takes care of it?

Don't know if the boards/spam situation is or will be under review...

On a social network type site I helped design, we had this super cool feature where new users had a wait time before posting and if they didn't post after x time they were deleted/unsubscribed,that took care of most spam bots, another strategy is like Reddit, on some subs you are not allowed to submit top level posts before getting x comment karma, which in core's case could be the number used to calculate steps, also multiple simultaneus top level posts are avoided through a cool down period.
