Will this work?

I’m building a new system and it will mainly be used for 3D animation software like Maya and 3D Studio Max. My price limit is $1,200, and this is what I’ve choose so far:

$115 - WD Caviar SE 250GB SATA - HD
(2x)$83.82 - CORSAIR 1GB (2 x 512MB) - RAM
(http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=321934)]$279.99 - MSI RX800XL - Video Card
$267 - AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Venice - CPU
$131.50 - DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D - Motherboard
$232.69 for the other stuff like the case and monitor.

Total: 1,193.82

Will this be a good system for what I want to do? Feel free to make any suggestions or changes.

there’re only three manufacturers for cards in taiwan. asus, matrix, and gigabyte. so cards or boards like msi or dfi are secondary vendors which will add to your spending.

they usually make the boards look nicer (more professional) but the components if not worse are not better.

for instance abit boards look much cooler than asus because they’ve added some tranlucent gamerlike covers to the boards, but in performance they aren’t any better.

i recommend an ati vga card like x800 (pci express) with an asus board. also make sure you get a good power supply. something above 400w real output.
