I havent tried the snowboarding, but I am very interested to see how well it works. Tiger Woods is a staple though. It is amazing how accurate that damn remote can be (stupid slice!). Also, I played a racing game (maybe Pro Street) and it was pretty good fun.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl is another one that’s kid friendly but you can enjoy too.
Wii Music is a more shallow music sim, but it has a lot of instruments (no peripherals).
Elebits is a great game that came out at launch so it would be pretty cheap now. I would check those out.
You can also go to the shop channel and get titles from past systems as well as small new games. There would be several of those that are great for your kid and only cost $10-$20.
If you enjoy board games with the fam you might dig
Hasbro Family Game Night
it’s by no means the greatest, but my wife and I have been having a lot of fun and our son asks my wife “play games?” then chants “knock’em down mommy, knock’em down” while she plays Sorry sliders or Battleship.
I’m pretty big on Boggle myself…'nerd…I mean… 'nuf said
The kids at best buy were telling us to get Metroid, I’d be interested to hear what others think on that one too ???
mario galaxy
metroid prime 3
shaun white snowboarding (works with balance board) (ssx blur is good, but not balance board)
excite truck is actually tons of fun and very accessible
last I’d say the trauma center games are interesting and different, but challenging
the problem with the wii is that 50% of the games are utter garbage, it helps to rent a lot!
How are the EA sports games on Wii? Looking at the back covers of most of them, they seem to be scaled down a bit b/c of the heavy graphics that seem more geared for the PS3 and XBox.
This man speaks the truth. I would go to www.ignwii.com and look at reviews of the EA sports games, I haven’t played those in a while, but I heard the controls were actually quite intuitive for the Wii versions.
I got a kick out of the Raving Rabbids…but my daughter didn’t dig it. Well…she didn’t dig the Cow toss. She thought it was “mean”.
She did, however love plugging rabbits with a plunger gun…go figure.
I remember playing Tiger Woods Golf on the XBox…probably '06 or '07. Pretty cool. I will have to try it out.
You guys with all these fancy games. The only thing I’ve played on my wii the past year was the sports one that came with it and one other multi-sports game. The last time I had a game console before this was the atari 2600 and I only had combat and pacman (but at least I did get to borrow boxing and pitfall!) It really is amazing how much games have progressed over the years. I was walking past a barbershop and looked through the window at the flatscreen they had up to see who was playing in the game everyone in there was watching so intensely and then I saw the guys with the controllers…it was a f**king video game and looked almost like real action from 20-30 ft away!
