Which Pantone book to use for Plastics

Just wondering which pantone book is best to use when specifying a color to be used in a plastic? Coated or uncoated? solid or matte? is there a different color book for plastics that varies from the pantone books used for print?

Pantone numbers are a decent place to start for specifying paint colors. In the end it’s pretty much done by eye anyways.

There’s also these for molded colors. They usually come in huge stacks of plastic trays.

Most of our vendors will accept matching to the solid coated. Some have even attempted to get close to the TCX (fabric) but it usually isnt great. However, we have ordered the plastic book and will find out which one works best.
