Where to go study ID, furniture dis., for an exange program?

Hi, well i just started studying ID in Buenos Aires and im really loving it (im not argentinian) the city, the people, the studies, everything. But im planing on doing a year somewhere in europe like Germany, Sweden, Holland … the problem is the lenguage, im planning on going wherever i choose in 3 years so i got time to learn the lenguage but i really have to choose where i want to go right now as to start studying the lenguage at once… a lot of people i have met keep on telling me to go to berlin to study wich sounds great as they have great designers, great study programs and they are very good at furniture design.

But i wanted to see other options as recently i been founding great designers from Sweden and Netherlands. Im looking for a place where i can work and study, has a great “design” enviorment, nice city , and of course money is also important i love copengahen but its way to expensive at the moment.

About Berlin everyone tells me its a great city, with great design enviorment and its ot that expensive plus i heard that with a students visa you can work up to 20hrs a day…(more than the money i want the job to keep on learning).

If its not europe what other places you recomend, i also been hearing great things about South Korea.
And no USA i know they have great universities but its not a place i would like to live/study…

Thanks a lot and any coments are welcome…

ps. sorry for the writning, im in a hurry (lots of work and homework)… ill come back and correct it later

Hi,

If you are only doing a year as an exchange student, I am not sure if you should really worry about the job issue too much.
What you might be able to is to work for the school and have them set something up or see if you can apply for grants and scholarships. Otherwise burden yourself with finding a decent job plus dealing with a new place and school might jeopardize your experience.

At the school where I am finishing my masters at the moment, Konstfack in Stockholm, we have a lot of international exchange students.
However, most of them are from schools that my school has a relationship with. I would talk to the school you are currently attending and see what contacts they have and who they recommend.
Language wise I would recommend generally smaller countries in Europe compared to bigger ones as their English is a lot better.

actually im doing just that at the moment working/studying at the same time and i really like it, i dont know i guess im more into working than studying and i actually enjoy work, i mean its not like i dont like studying DI its just i enjoy working more but its a really good point of view i actually hadnt thought about it.

How is Stockholm i hear its really beautifull but also really expensive, (i hear all Sweden is) is it true? around how much money do you need to live by? without the monthy school payment (my school is into some kind of program that wherever you go you keep on paying the same amount every month as if you were in Buenos Aires… REALY HELPFUL  ).

Thanks for your reply
