I read afterwards that it is using a lot of the last generation 3 series platform. That explains some of the odd proportions as they had to respect the hard points on the chassis. I’m not a car designer, so I can imagine it’s a challenge to integrate the new aesthetic concept onto the old platform, but I can’t believe they couldn’t do better than this.
