Rachmaninoff and Eric Carmen…creativity or IP theft?

currently:

That podcast got me to go through some of the U2 back catalog. I hadn’t listened to anything from them in a long time, but listening to Acting Baby brought back memories of driving around in high school with that is the cassette deck

There’s a cover album of Achtung Baby that is really good.

(confession: I love covers)

Depeche Mode - So Cruel
Garbage - Wild Horses
Killers - Ultraviolet (this track got me through 2020)

I kind of like covers aw ell, especially when they are really different. That sounds like a pretty good lineup @slippyfish , I need to track that down.

One of my favorite covers:

Yonderboi, Riders On The Storm (is it a cover or a remix?)

An underground bop.

Started the day at my favorite coffee shop and they were playing one of my favorite albums from front to back. Nice way to start the day:

Lots of indie. I’m typically Pink Floyd/Lana Del Rey/Nirvana, but been on an indie kick lately. Peaceful to drive through town discovering the new sounds

Tackling a long to do list on this Friday morning with:

I’m a sucker for slow, acoustic covers of fast, non-acoustic songs. Having recently played through The Last of Us Part II for the first time, I’ve had this little gem in my head lately.

This morning when I saw this thread, I was preparing for the weekly Music Game I host. We have a departmental meeting. I play a song, you tell me the name of the song, name of the artist and release decade. Correct answers get points based on a convoluted system and voila, winners at the end of the year.

@iab I want to play that game!

Sometimes I just pop on one of these chill playlists to get things done:

Been watching season 3 of Wu Tang. Awesome show if you haven’t checked it out. Shameik Moore who plays Raekwon sounds just like him!

This week’s music game.

One of my favorite interpretations of that Nick Cave song in Peaky Blinders:

I do like how Peaky Blinders did use different versions of the song in the show. I don’t know if that is an original to them, but it where I saw it first.
