Twin Motion - Renderings by an Industrial Designer

I’ve been using Twin Motion long before it was acquired by Epic but have to say that the overall progress has been amazing and only getting better with bringing some of the best functionality from UnReal Engine without the heavy overhead.

Curious is anyone else is kicking the tires or if people are just sticking with Keysh*t?!?

Yes, just posted about Twinmotion in the KeyVR thread few days ago.
I don’t think it replaces Keyshot for product design rendering just yet - the material library and level of control isn’t there yet for TM. It seems better suitable for “outdoor” renderings, like automotive, architecture, landscape.. not to show the difference between VDI30 and VDI 36 on a tech gizmo in a white studio.

But having said that - TM has so many other cool features and frequent updates, I wouldn’t be surprised if you won’t need Keyshot for that quite soon.

One important workflow feature is that you can live link multiple files from multiple sources. So you have 1 guy working on some chassis in Solidworks, 2nd doing Surfaces in Rhino, and the 3rd one can be sitting in TwinMotion building the rendering scene while seeing the others’ progress live (or on refresh request, they don’t even have to hit save)

One downside is it hangs up A LOT. Save often.
