Travel Mug for Coffee & Tea

Hey everyone,
I need some helping finding a well designed, functional travel mug for going between my apartment and classes in the morning. I have to be able to throw it in my bag without worrying about leakage etc. and it would be nice if I didn’t have to unscrew a cap to drink from the mug.

I’ve made a preliminary search and found some interesting things such as:

The only issue is that people report trapped gunk and smelly tops after repeated prolonged use.

Others I’ve found:

So, does anyone have any experience in this category?

I wouldn’t want to throw anything in my bag unless it had to be unscrewed, those buttons look like they can easily be pressed. This one got good reviews.

I have used the OXO for years. Works great, durable, seals well but…I wouldn’t throw it my backpack upside down unless I knew that it was empty.

Maybe throw wasn’t the best word, more like place upright in a bag, and still be able to ride a bike without worrying. Thanks for the recommendation though!

Yep, back in school I used my nissan thermos as described, kept things hot, and had a reliable seal. I really want a Stanley thermos now, like its old school charm, but really have zero need for it.

I’m a huge fan of the Contigo stuff. I’ve put coffee in mine, left it in my car on a cool cloudy day then 3 hours later gone back to get it, and the coffee is still warm (not hot, but certainly warm)

They can get gunky, but I usually soak mine in warm water for a bit and that seems to get them cleaned up on the interior.

I’ve use my Stanley almost daily to feed my insatiable coffee habit… Why Stanley doesn’t offer a special brush to get down inside of it to scour out all of the caffeine residue is beyond me. I even called them to ask if they were aware of the problem.

Their customer service rep’s advice was a teaspoon of Billy Ray’s OxyClean powder and hot tap water… and leave over night.

Yeah, right, like that’s going to work…

It does!!! absolutely spotless, shiny like new, stainless interior… I don’t know how many things (plastic and metal) I’ve tried it on since, but the result is always the same … perfectly clean.

Good to know!
