hey man,
i remember that pushpin from a while back and i want some…
would like to see more breadth products, although the housewears stuff is really nice to look at… tweapot’s brushed aluminum finish is scaled wrong though i think… the brushed effect doesn’t read right. I would like to pick your brain at some point about lighting etc… anyways keep it up man.
cheers

I’ll let you know when they go into production…

Sure, any suggestions or categories you think I should try? :astonished:

Yeah, that brushed aluminum one isn’t my best I could’ve spent more time on that one…maybe I’ll take it down…and rework it. Lighting questions?? sure I’m always glad to help out. Thanks!!!

well you’re showing some good stuff that would fit in well on a kitchen counter, maybe some products that would fit in somewhere else in the home, some garage stuff maybe, tools, storage, maybe hospital stuff, bathroom stuff, office stuff, airport stuff… or maybe products of a different scale altogether, go bigger… like small scale archetecture → bus stops, exhibits kiosks, or way smaller (like your push pin). or the classics, some furniture etc…

i guess it all depends on where your interests lie… just think you could add to whats there. the skills that you obviously have would be better presented through varying the types of projects.

i have no idea what your using as far as software package, but for a studio setup, for high gloss surfaces to reflect environments etc, (as in sea-pot) how are you seting that up? environment settings back plane? the surface reads really well though and thats what im going for on a couple of my projects but haven’t been able to get the same results

These are all good places to start, I do have a chair in the works…still very much in the concept stages. I’ll will try to add more stuff and change it up thank you for the head start.

Luckily, right now I’m still interested in everything, I haven’t locked down on any one category.

Right now I’m using PhotoWorks an Add-In of SolidWorks. You can get pretty detailed with it now. You can setup quick draft attempts using PhotoWorks Studio, and you can also setup the environment settings, you actually setup your own image. You can also have separate background and environment settings.

Maybe I’ll come up with a quick Power Point or something and break it down into the actual steps.

Shoot me your email, I’ll send you a more detailed explanation, as soon as I can.

Some of the solidworks renderings are pretty good.

If you are building a designer’s portfolio i’d suggest more process work including sketching, other concept variations per project and as mentioned, more variety.

pushpin idea is nice. is there a reason for the two pins instead of one?

R

Thank you for the advice, I do need to add more sketching and variation. Yes, the pushpin idea is nice…just kidding…the reasoning for the two pins is so that you don’t have to puncture the paper…instead you use the flat face on the bottom of the push pin to hold the paper, the push pins just act as anchors on the wall…people sometimes use the regular pins this way, but there’s never enough surface are on the flat face to hold the paper well.

does that make sense? maybe I should create an illustration that shows how the pin will be used.
