The Y2K Design Aesthetic

I thought it was really fun to watch this and see how a younger person perceived what was going on in design in the later 90’s and early 2000’s

speaking of Y2k… this will probably be a little polarizing…

Not sure what they were thinking with the interior, but I like the bumper lights!

Marc Newson wants his Orgone shapes back from this travesty. Saw it suggested elsewhere, but looks like they skinned Grimace for the interior.

I really like how old Mac Os 10.0 - 10.3 wallpapers works with modern Mac Os UI. And this is straight from those times. Would love to see more analysis on 2000s on the web, because it is a huge movement in fashion and social culture now, and we have much more details on the 90s and Y2K era then we have about 80s. It is a “golden days” of web design / UI too, right before it became blank white canvas of usability

When you realize that from now to 1995 is the same time difference as 1995 to 1967 it’s bonkers.

1995 seems like yesterday and 1995 design was/is definitely not as cool as peak mid century design it’s nuts to me to see kids these days trying to bring it back…

but I guess I’m old.
