The Power We Have

it really isn’t so much that Industrial Designer’s do it…

there’s more to it than just the technology we use to represent and even fabricate reality which is becoming cheaper and more widespread.

the internet is becoming a valid source of reliable information for a great many people who don’t really understand its power.

think about the process of acquiring information now…

you could hear something strange from a co-worker, friend, or family member. to verify it, what do you do? and how do you do that?

the first, easy step is to check the internet. then, what else?

for some people, the truth is only as deep as the first few websites they read.

the speed at which we can really know something is so much faster than it was even 5 years ago. today, i can capture an event with the phone on my camera, post it on a website, and within minutes have the modern world as my audience.

but, usually, to fabricate the truth it requires a bit of time, skill, and effort to have something truly believable. sometimes the skill and technology can be obvious:

sometimes not so obvious:

the real question, is how, in a few years will we really know what is true and valid, and what is not?

Why don’t you ask them how fun it is?
