Some good news via CNET: The Ocean Cleanup announced that it reached viability of its ocean plastic-collecting technology and plans to begin cleaning plastic pollution in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch immediately.

…and shoot it into the sun.
The amount of diesel those tug boats are burning up just for one expedition to gather a truckload of plastic is all the more incentive not to use plastics any longer!
The problem may go deeper.
As in plastic and microplastics that are deeper under the ocean surface.
But the project is still laudable.
Too bad only some plastics can be recycled.
