Summer Study Abroad Programs in Europe?

I was wondering if anyone knew of any good summer programs for either furniture or ID in Europe? I’ve been looking into the Danish Design School…

The summer program at the University of Copenhagen / Denmark’s International Study program is really fun. I took the glass design program there a few years ago and loved it. We were in the same building as the furniture design and textiles summer programs. There was some really cool furniture pieces produced!

If I remember correctly you get to do either bent-wood, solid wood, or metal based designs. The teachers were all very knowledgeable and helpful and the facilities were in good shape. You get to do an extensive travel tour that features many different companies and museums around the Scandinavian countries. Denmark is a wonderful place to live/study. The people are extremely nice there (everyone speaks english too)

I’m sure there are some other programs that would be good. But the Copenhagen experience for design is wonderful.

not specifically furniture or ID, but Vitra has summer design workshops in France

From June- September, the Vitra Design Museum is offering 25 workshops at Domaine de Boisbuchet, a medieval country estate in Southwestern France. The workshops run one week or 10 days and are led by renowned designers, architects and artists, such as the Campana Brothers, Alexander Brodsky, Dinie Besems, Stephen Burks, Bruckner + Bruckner Architects, and Ico Migliore. Some workshops follow an open, experimental approach, with an emphasis on the design process, while others address concrete topics like the working of specific materials.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your input on the program! And I will be looking into the Vitra workshops…maybe I’ll do both…

I’ve been looking for similar programs too:

here’s one where you do some time in either or both london and milan at central st. martins and domus:

then at domus:

then at Naba:

I know nothing about the outcomes of these courses… so nothing about reputation or anything ( do know domus is highly regarded though).

And depending if you’re in california or not, Art center has art center at night, which I guess is study abroad?

I was about to ask the same question then I saw this post. Thanks for the links.
