i’m working for a design firm and we have summer hours which are 1/2 day fridays. checking around to find out if other companies give employees summer hours and if so how it works (i.e. make up the time mon - thurs?)… thanks.
Keeping in mind that it’s really more an issue with slower production in the summer, my company closes at 2:30 PM on Fridays, but we come in at 7:30 instead of 8 Tuesday through Friday to make up for it. This goes Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Guess I’ve always lucked out in this department. During final negotiations, I’ve always insisted that I be given 2-3 hour “lunches” so i could go bicycle training during the middle of the day. I’m always one of the first through the door in the mornings, and I generally stay late. Also, my evenings are generally filled with Skype calls overseas.
I think the bottom line is a happy employee is a good employee. Life is much less stressful if I can get my training done during the day, then if things come up later in the day, I don’t get all flipped out.
