Soviet Product Design

Hi all,

Does anyone know of any good books or websites on soviet product design/architecture?
I have been thinking about this facinating area of design that seems to be put to one side. , Wireless sets, (Zenith) cameras, phones, tables, lamps etc… all seem to have a durable sence of purpose, and somehow subtly anticonsumerist.

Links, directions and pointers please,

cheers

Hi martian,

Maybe a Taschen book on DDR …

Look for the constructivist art and architecture of the 1910’s-20’s - Monument to the Third International.

Slightly related, and very entertaining, are Christian Gosset’s graphic novels called “The Red Star” which are an allegory for early Russian/Soviet politics combined with sci/fi and magic. Great art and good storytelling.
