I’m trying to source a supplier of the Ipod Shuffle ball bearing component.

Does anyone know the name of that component?

Are you talking about the little ball detent in the cap? Try mcmaster.com, search for “detent” or “spring plunger”. The one in the shuffle is probably just a ball bearing with a spring behind it, rather than a preassembled detent component. I’ve never looked at one up close.
