So, where do I start?

I sweat designing stuff something crucial…But, that’s just the thing, I wanna design everything, and uhm, anything, and that’s the problem, you can’t just get a Design Degree, it has to be specialized in something…

So, like, I like fashion, so I would assume I would like fashion design…But, my life doesn’t really revolve around fashion, I could care less about what French Vogue thinks is in…Well, I could care, but my life doesn’t revolve around it. And, that seems to be were I’m confused, most fashion design students their lives revolve around it.

Basically the thing is, I’m not in school yet, but I want to be. But, I don’t know where to go, or really what to go for. Well, yeah, like I said fashion, but I would totally sweat designing toys, too. I’m a kid at heart, lol, I love cartoons, and I love anything that’s cute.

I live in Indiana, so, I could go anywhere…I know of IADT in Chicago, but, is it a good school? I talked to an admissions person last year, but, he just really seemed interested in mah money…Which, all schools are, but, yeah.

I know I’ll be the one to make the final decision, but do you think ya’ll could help me out a bit?

i would say dont stress out too much about your choice of major. most design schools have a required foundation year, and although you are required to declare a concentration for most, many allow you to switch after foundations. I go to the University of Cincinnati and there are at least 5-6 people i know of in my major that started in another major and switched after foundations.

and even if you get out of college with a bachelors in industrial design, whos to say you can’t pursue fashion, graphic, or digital? one thing i love about design is that there is so much crossover between the disciplines that your options are always open.

good luck on persuing schools…i would tell you to apply to my school but I think they are probably filled up for next year by now. :frowning:

Eh, that sucks…Do you go to that one school that requires you to have passed four years of college prep english? If so, I totally wouldn’t get accepted into there…Lolz…

im pretty sure, because DAAP has really strict requirements for acceptance, and even then, you have to apply early. I know a lot of people too that go to UC and take gen ed classes for a year or two to boost their GPA then transfer into DAAP.

I’ve been doing a little research on schools and programs as well. I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure I saw an “integrated design” program in a Parson’s online calendar. Have a look, maybe what your looking for.

Good luck!!

Heh, thanks to both of you for your help…

And, hm, I checked up some stuff on Parson’s, sounds like a good degree, and the fact that Tom Ford is an alumni, WOAH.

I’d probably never get accepted though.
