will they help your sketching?
they won’t hurt it…
I think seeing how other designers communicate their ideas is always helpful…
ive seen his demo’s twice now. if nothing else he will inspire and excite you. he does a LOT with photoshop and i was surprised with how many tricks or shortcuts he uses that i didnt know.

worth the money. I have the perspective and bicycle dvd. It helps alot but you’ll have to practice alot too!
I really would like to see him do some marker stuff.
Good tips contained on the bicycle DVD - he and I worked concurrently on some projects for Kestrel and it was embarrassing how much better his final renderings looked than mine. The most useful things I got were quick-key commands like Ctrl-Alt-U for transferring HSV colors between layers, and using tons of layers, and the Preserve transparency commands…
Mostly though, Scott can DRAW like his pencil is on fire. If I really wanted to do it like him, I’d get some of his other vids, about totally dull shit like “shading matte surfaces” and basic pencil work. He has an intuitive sense of shade and light which no video will teach you. He has peers and friends who are also brilliant artists and they teach and inspire each other. Scott is the man, a real pro, and sitting through his videos can only help.
I’ve got the first one on perspective form, and it’s very helpful! I was never taught technical drawing because I didn’t follow art enough as I thought IT was the way to go, dropping art for IT (heavily regretted) so it’s a good starting point for me.
If you check the Gnomon site you can preview clips, you’ve probably already seen them but that sold it for me!
Cheers

The gnomon DVD’s are amazing… There is much to be learned. I would recommend Robertson’s DVD’s, Feng Zhu’s, Ryan Church’s, and Belker’s above the rest. Scotts and Zhu’s being the best for ID. Church’s are mostly digital. Belker is cars. Check em out you will not regret it.
His Drawthrough series books are a good resource too. I just got the Start your Engines one because it has a chapter of bike sketches.

Can you post any of your renderings?
