Core77 is proud to be working with Mesh01 to co-sponsor a scholarship for a two-week, intensive footwear design workshop at the University of Oregon, running from June 21 - July 2, 2010. This scholarship will provide full payment for tuition and housing at the U. of O. facility in downtown Portland, OR.
The catch - portfolio submissions are due by end of day, Friday May 21! So get your sketches together and submit your work today. Take two weeks to work and learn from an amazing group of experienced designers and guest speakers. This program has been specifically designed to transform and jumpstart your dream of becoming a professional footwear designer into reality.
The instructors for this program are:
D’Wayne Edwards: Footwear Design Director at JORDAN Brand. He has over 21 years of footwear design experience in a variety of footwear ranging from mens, womens, kids, dress, outdoor to athletic.
Matt Rhoades: Former creative director at Nike. His portfolio includes national and international award-winning designs for shoes, sports equipment, electronics, as well as over 40 patents.
Wilson Smith: Creative Catalyst at Nike. His career spans over 25 years in Footwear Architecture. He is a true pioneer and has designed shoes from some of today’s premiere athletes.
Suzette Henri: Materials Designer at JORDAN Brand. She has an impressive 30 years in the field of footwear and apparel. Her knowledge of color and materials have established her as one of the foremost experts in her field.
To apply for this scholarship, register at Mesh01 and upload a set of samples to the “No. 2 Foundation Scholarship” competition. All portfolio submissions will be reviewed by a jury, and one winning entry will be awarded the scholarship. Travel costs to and from Portland will be the responsibility of the student.
