Has anyone else found the dollar store to be a treasure chest of cheap prototype materials.
My new favorite is the 99cent store, same as the dollar store but one penny less.
Where do other design students and designers get materials and creative inspiration.
used parts bins and discarded materials section. tons of good, usable wood from moulds thrown away after prototyping is done.
also found 2 whole motorcycles (albeit rust buckets) in the metal and industrial materials section. got to love japan’s recycling habit.
boeing supuls is wonderland, and any place that salvages airplanes, autos or motorcycles. Your old stuff is also full of “preforms” parts that are complex and can just be trimed a bit or bent a bit to be made to work. Working with real materials is vital in my book, and this is a easy cheap way to get that.
