Psycho-analysis of forumites

Having bounced back and forth between this forum, Product Design Forums and a well-known cycling forum, I’ve certainly run across some interesting characters. Most seem normal enough, with which to discuss real topics. But then there are the really strange ones. Either they dont’ make much sense at all, or are there to rub people the wrong way.

Core77 is no stranger to such. From Spam to Deez and UFO, we’ve had some interesting posters. But I’m asking what makes them tick? Are they 8-5pm industrial designers that have a desire to unnerve people across the world? Do they get a kick out of this? And for the more bizarre types, do they just have nothing else to do and enjoy knowing that someone, somewhere is paying attention to what they write? Recently there was a guy on the cycling forum with over 100,000 posts!! Good grief. And he had nearly 700 in one day! What on earth could someone talk about that much??

Granted, I personally hop on here and thoroughly enjoy all the topics (well, expect for the spam crap.) But I don’t see it as a conversation tool. What ever happened to real interaction?

These tools allow people to develop reputations - increasingly important in a connected world. Just look at how LinkedIn works: connections and endorsements. Look at how employers now use MySpace and other social software.

Let them waste their time. It’s better for me in the long run.

Was that guy on the cycling forum named Doc Austin by any chance?

What I think is more interesting is the fact that these people have you thinking about them constantly and you dont even know them. haha. Maybe that is their goal?

I am a friend of Deez and I get a kick out of the fact that you are now writing a new thread about him even though he hasnt made a post in months. You cant get deez out of your head and he hasn’t been active here in quite a while. His thoughts made you think and your not used to getting your shit handed to you when you are wrong. Even if you weren’t wrong on a certain topic, it at least made you think harder about your views.

These are people who give it to you straight and could care less about your feeling because your noone to them. This board holds many discussions and why should yours be the correct one? How are you going to defend it or make others see why you think they are wrong?

At times its harsh, but its all part of the attack - your mumbling while you type, pounding away on your keyboard and not thinking clearly, while these people are laughing on their lunchbreak reading your responses. Now you cant get your work done cause your dreaming about deez or UFO or whoever.

im sick of typing

…communication is alot more than the words we chose and that is all you get here…comments can appear more harsh or cold than really intended, dumb ass.

you’re right. I can’t stop thinking about deez

BTW what happened to him? Did someone finally catch up to him and kick deez’ nuts?

yes he is in the hospital. I am going to see him after work.

I run into interesting characters ALL day everyday. I live in civilization.
You need to get out more… if you’re worrying about interesting characters online and starting a POST ON IT.

Deez for Republican President 2008

Hope he feels better and start posting again. Coreums have been lame as shit as of late.
