Product Student Looking Into Study Abroad/Exchange Program

I am a sophomore product student at CCS in Detroit. I am looking forward to completing an exchange or study abroad ID program during the fall 08 semester. Just seeing who has completed a similar program before and what their thoughts of it were. As of now, I believe I would like to attend an abroad program at a school somewhere in Europe, but I wouldnt have a problem traveling within the country to do an exchange program. Also, what would everyone suggest as the stronger ID/Product programs to consider doing an exchange/abroad program at?

still looking for some feedback…

Even though I’m planning on studying abroad, this is a list of the schools that CCS has an exchange program with. Any school stand out for having a solid product program?

Hey there- I’m currently doing a semester and internship abroad in Germany at the University of Wuppertal. Although it’s not one of the higher ranked design schools in europe, I’m having an amazing learning experience- and definitely recommend getting out of america if you can!

Basically classes and studios and projects are going to be the same no matter where you go (sorry to generalize)… but its experiencing the different culture and the new ways of design thinking that’s valuable. So far I’ve learned a ton just from German thought process and design strategy that I could have never gotten to experience back home at the university of cincinnati.

One thing i’d say though is do it as late in your education plan as possible- the more experienced you are and the more disciplined the better.

feel free to message me if you want any other input…

good luck on your search!

I’m an MSc student Industrial Design Engineering at the University of Twente in the Netherlands. We already have some foreign students attending at the moment and I know the University is very happy to welcome new foreign students. If you want me to find a contact for you, let me know.

I’m in the industrial design program at ECIAD in Vancouver, Canada. I’m really enjoying the program, and the school is happy to include exchange students. If you have any other questions, I’d be happy to answer them.
