Hello, i am Zubair Moola, 19 years old, from Johannesburg, South Africa. I am passionate about industrial design and wish to study and pursue it as a career.
I was not, however, accepted into my local university for their industrial design program due to my matric mathematics mark. I cannot afford private colleges, as it is I could hardly afford the university which I applied to. I do not know much about scholarships and funding, or how the application process generally works. I do not mind studying abroad, as long as I get my education and can afford it, i am even willing to work while studying to pay the tuition fees.
PLEASE HELP WITH ANY INFO AND ADVICE YOU MAY HAVE THAT COULD ASSIST ME.
Hey! I’m also intending to pursue industrial design although I finished school 4 years ago so i’m just going to share what I’v been learning through the googling I have been doing as being in South Africa (JHB) myself where industrial design is not as big yet can pose challeges on how to pursue the career if your not accpeted in the two institutions that offer it i.e UJ & CPUT.I came across Academy of Art University which offers a online version of industrial design but you can also attend on campus for semester’s when you financially well though as the online version saves you from the extreme cost’s of going to america where it’s based. They don’t judge you in a big way for not doing really well in high school but believe if your really passionate about doing it & willing to put in the work you can make it,so check out their site.
Thanks alot for that info Zam, I have looked at the Academy of Art University as well as the Art institutes of America. My biggest challenge, however, is the cost of studying as you have mentioned. Thanks anyway your info was much appreciated.
