Please Help: Curriculums/Portfolios and Presentation Letters

Hello all!

This is my first post here at Core77 boards, and I’m starting with the right foot with a bunch of question. I’m sorry for possible silly questions!

The thing is… I’m finishing my graduation on industrial design, but this will take me about 6 months now. Now I have a lot of free time, and I’m pretty interested on doing some freelance/part-time or even full-time job.

I don’t know very well what I want to do inside industrial design. My interests go from furniture design, to computer designer, not forgetting kitchenware and a all bunch of stuff. I want to do a lot of different stuff. I want to experiment the much as I can. I’m no super-master-designer, but I’m almost a workaholic  I love design and team work.

My question is… i want to write so some architecture and design ateliers here in Portugal, offering my services. Freelance, part-time or full-time, but I don’t know the best way to do it.

What kind of info do I need to send?! Should I send my all portfolio or just some works? And how many and what type of works?

How should I approach the people responsible for the ateliers?

What is the key-information I should pass them?!

I would like to thank everyone that is reading and replying to this in advance. I’m pretty confused right now and all the feedback is greatly appreciated!

Cheers from Portugal!!

For a cold call letter I would just outline your skills, experience and interest in the company (be as specific as you can to each company instead of writing a form letter), and include relevant samples of your work.

You can send your whole portfolio but I would edit it some depending on what you have in there to appeal to the furniture companies. I would say its OK to have non-furniture work, but keep in mind who you are “speaking” to.

hard to give a firm reply not knowing your work. maybe post your corefolio link here for more of a specififc review.
