os x and SW under parallels

i was wondering if anyone has tried running win xp and sw under parralels and os x?

i would try it myself, but i don’t and and intel mac…

I would love to hear about this as well. In particular how well does CAD software run?

Pro/E in particular, but any review of CAD software run under Parallels would be much appreciated.

xp runs pretty well in parallels. I’ve only seen autocad running in windows in parallels. I boot my intel mac to XP if I need to do heavy 3d work…which is all the time.

booting from one to the next… how fast is it?

it’s just like restarting a reg pc. pretty fast.

My experience has been that running Pro/E and Cobalt (Ashlar) was really slow, expecially the rendering. Also, there is a problem with the dongle working with some apps, vellum being one.

I’m not all that psyched about how well CAD has been running in emulation so far.

Windows XP itself runs really well, but graphics intense 3D is poor in my estimation.

Good luck!

Ya, that’s what I was afraid of. I have been there, done that with dual boot. Not interested.

Until they compile Pro/e for Mac, I will never buy a Mac. I want all my software in one environment. I did the dual boot thing back in the 80s/90s and I am no longer interested in that.
