* * * Open Letter to the Admins * * *

Hello, I’ve noticed the recent deluge of postings from incoming Pratt students. I know that site has or had some sort of affiliation with the school, but isn’t this forum (Students’n’Schools) more about schools in general, i.e. applying, recommendations, portfolios, internships etc., than about finding housing in Brooklyn or making new Pratt friends this summer? Should those posts maybe be moved into a different category, or maybe into a new Pratt-related category? It’s getting impossible to sift through all this stuff to find the few non-Pratt posts.

I hear you, and I have been thinking along the same lines the last few days. It’s a bit out of sorts, yet I hesitate to move or merge all of the threads as it kind of impinges on the open nature of the boards.

Thanks for your comments. It’s great to hear feedback. Now that I know it’s more than just me, I’ll try to get on it. By all means this a threads for student’s and schools of all sorts.

Yo lay the smack down.

enough PRATT sheeet in every thread.

i am going to pratt aswell…but what you guys say makes sense. infact it will be better for us aswell to navigate through all the pratt threads .

Noticed this too, and it appears that many think that Core77 is Pratt.

Wonder if some sort of mailer went out to incoming freshman about using the boards?

I too am one of the Pratt students posting. I completely agree with what you guys are saying. I think it would be best to keep all the Pratt postings in a specific thread and not have everyone posting a new thread everytime they come on. It will give the Pratt students more exposure to the people they are looking to meet and keep the forum more organized. Hopefully we aren’t too much of a nuisance for the forum and all will be sorted out.

Pratt sent an e-mail out to it’s incoming students. It might have sent one out to it’s regular students, but I’m not to sure, because I’m only going to be a freshman. But it stated :

The following link (Core 77) is a website forum that you can use to talk to other incoming students to Pratt for fall. All you need to do is register and you’re set to go. Some students expressed the desire to talk to other incoming students, so this seemed like a good way to get it going.

This message was attached to a link to register for Core77.

WORST MOVE EVER.

they should tell the professors to post class assignments and project schematics here as well.

= core readership…down the drain…

I think it was meant to stay in that one thread because that was the link in the email, but people just ventured out of it.

wow, way to sabotage your site. i hope pratt plans to pay for your hosting as well.

I’ve pointed people to discussion board before prior to ID having it’s own community discussion board for newly admitted students. Give Pratt time, it was meant well, and I know only too well the excitement of newly admitted students

Niti

Yes, I think it will cool down in a week or so. After having a conversation with the core77admin for the site, it turns out there is no way to merge all of the Pratt housing/friendster-esque threads into one. So we are just going to have to deal while these kids figure this place out.

perhaps the admission office should address the issue by starting/renewing a student forum on their OWN site instead of sending them all (i got this email myself and did not realize that ALL incoming students also received it). one agrivated poster here gave a link to a pratt forum which is dead.

I just emailed Judith Aaron, telling her to stop encouraging SPAM to sites that she nor her employer owns.

If she decides to take it upon herself to represent core77 forums and initiates her SPAM to it, I will contribute to SPAM as well and “steal” even if it is, 3 min of her life, for her to read my useless email.

I encourage you ALL to do the same.

If asked, someone give her a link to this thread and this message:

The following moron, Judith Aaron, is a generic answer ho, that you can use to talk anything and everything to. All you need to do is email her constantly and you’re set to go. Some random internet souls expressed the desire to talk to generic internet hoes that have nothing better to do, so this seemed like a good way to get it going.

Email this bored lady and fil her inbox please:

Quite mature…way to set a positive example.

um, one of the founders of core teaches at Pratt.

ur a student there, therefore can your mom go do the dishes for the dorms?

So, does Pratt pitch in to help pay for the traffic they’ve generated on this site? Somehow I doubt it.

can you drop out of college and/or quit your job and go serve mashed potatoes with an ice cream scooper at your high school alma mater? Thanks for being affiliated.
