i dont think ive ever seen a puma workboot/hiker model. Did they have a predecessor shoe or was this a first for them?

Very nice improvement over the previous model Bjorn. You made it much more cohesive. Even though I’m sure it is the same last, the new one looks much sleeker with the longer vamp, shorter eyerow with the laces starting much farther back and no central lace keeper drawing your eye. It is much faster and really nicely mashes the BBall, Euro Hikers, and work boots with a Chukka.

Just found a pick of it in black: vulcanized tooling with a custom extrusion, shirt lining, suede body. Fun little project.

hey Mike on that ideation page did you sketch each shoe on a page then put them all together or is that one page? Nice stuff.
Thank you sir. They were done on different pages, usually 2 or 3 on a page. I sketched out the overall proportion and silhouette lightly first and photocopied that a bunch of times so I could sketch up variants. Sorry, just realized there are some duplicates in that combo image, but even so, you can see there is quite a variety of pattern break up, vulcanized layering and cross sections, as well as top line, though the overall construction is the same on all of them.

Was this your final rendering? Why or at what point did you decide to alter your design from three to four eyelets, reinforced stitch removed, punched star instead of stitchline only, contours along the counter? And is that counter in the rendering pebble leather?

The reinforced stitch is still there, it is just much more subtle in photos, I have a shot that shows it though I will post tomorrow.
I wanted a pebbled leather heel counter, but the Varvatos team did a chukka with a leather heel counter and I didn’t want to be similar, and we decided we could always pop that in a different material or color in future seasons.
The shape of the counter and the 3 to 4 eyelet changes happened after the first prototype samples came in. The proportions just looked better in person this way.
The punched star was a concession to marketing, small compromise as it will be covered by jeans in most cases anyway.
Here is a clear shot. The details are much easier to read in the wheat colorway.

I’m not much of a sneaker guy myself (I drool over their aesthetics, technology, and style, but they don’t look right on me).
I lean more towards classic style shoes, boots, cowboy boots (I do live in Austin, TX)… but I’ve got to say… these do it for me, especially in the dark brown. I pulled my wallet out and started searching online but came up dry.
When will they / where are these available?
