New stock photo community

Hi all,

We all know how difficult is to find a good resource for stock images to include in our designs (I am reffering to DTP, that is my full time job). Just wanted to post a new site I stumbled upon: http://www.dreamstime.com
I registered as a member a couple of weeks ago and I think they’re great. Maybe we should see some reviews of this type of sites here inside the Core?

I forgot to post two other sites. Istock.com and www.sxc.hu

Did you mean istockphoto.com?

I haven’t bought too many photos from these stock photography sites, but I have used getty. Since you seem to have used them more than I have, which had the best images and the best rates?

Hands down the best , www.iconica.com , www.photonica.com

Architorture I used getty and corbis but I was disappointed about the quality on some of the pics. The prices are huge and when you get the file is all blurry. They do have very good files, not all of them are bad…But all of them are so expensive. Considering the prices on the market nowadays I cannot longer afford them, I end up spendsing the entire budget of a project this way.

Istockphoto has a lot of pics and very cheap, you can find a lot of good stuff, but for better pics you need to pay more…:frowning:. Dreamstime is new and imo has the best quality. Their database is still low, but I keep an eye on them and they have new stuff daily, the quality is better and better. I already used them for several projects, even for print the quality is great (I don’t need huge sizes for my projects). I mean there is less than $1 for an image!!

Please22 what prices do these sites have?

It depends on the use. Anywhere from a few hundred to thousands but the quality and style of imagery is top notch. Not something for students to use but for professionals. You can price out images on Iconica, they’re mostly e-commerce but they’re also supported by Photonica’s sales staff.

serious question:

do you make good money in stock photo peddling? There seems to be a new one every week.
