New GMC Commercial

Has anyone seen that new GMC employee discount commercial thats been on TV? It has all of these different people from the company talking about how proud THEY are to build GM vehicles and how proud THEY are to innovate. But THEY, with the exception of a digital sculptor, are all marketing and business people who don’t build or innovate anything at GM.

Its like when people go to a sporting event and say WE won when in reality that person never set foot on the field and did anything. For sports that might be fine but when you are talking about how proud you are to build a product, and then don’t include the people who actually create the things in the commercial, I think thats pretty low.

How hard is it to find ONE industrial designer, and ONE assembly line worker for them to say WE ARE PROUD TO HAVE DESIGNED AND BUILT THESE CARS. Does this piss anyone else off or is it just me?

No, the thing that pisses me off about that commercial is that it’s the same tired formula ad I’ve seen done to death since the mid 1990’s. You know, the ones where “ordinary folk” talk right at the camera and everyone starts their sentence with “I” and everyone finishes the previous one’s sentance. And somehow we’re supposed to believe that they’re not actually reading a script. TIRED and INSULTING.

Ironically what you’re talking about is the “WE” mentality (“we’re all building cars”) and yet they use the word “I.”

GOOD POINT.

ONE MAY WONDER IF DESIGNERS AND ASSEMBLY LINE STAFF ARE HONORED APPROPRIATELY AS UNIQUE AND SPECIAL OR CONSIDERED MOSTLY AS EXECUTORS OF ORDERS ISSUED AT THE HIGHEST LEVELS OF THE GM ORGANIZATION AND THE ADVERTISING ORGANIZATION.
