Need help choosing Cad software...

I am a Industrial Designer/Graphic Designer. I have a mac, love it but I do not find it useful for my 3D modeling…
Anyone has suggestion on 3D program that runs good on Mac? I am willing to learn new program, I am looking for program that can render and model good on Mac platform.
Any idea will help! Thanks!

I think SolidThinking runs on Macs as well as all of Ashlar’s products.

Get your hands on a copy of Maya- all the NURBS and SUBDIV’s you can handle. I used Cobalt (Vellum) for years— it sucks. I still have a copy on my machine that hasn’t been booted up in over a year…

Thanks for the advice. How can you get a maya? isn’t it very expensive!?

It’s like 2k… which is not too bad. You can download the trial at www.alias.com to see if you like it…

I just started working with Maya & it’s a good choice - although it is an extensive program. Cinema 4D is lighter on the wallet ($800) and is very comparable to Maya - it’s interface is similar/easier too. I would recommend C4D if money is an issue, it just doesn’t have all the bells & whistles - but unless your animating you don’t really need them.
