milk bottles

HI EVERYONE IM CURRENTLY ON MY FINAL YR UNDERTAKING MY MAJOR PROJECT

IM LOOKING TO GATHER ANY PROBLEMS YOU FEEL THERE ARE WITH MILK BOTTLES PREFERABLY HDPE ONES.

THIS WILL HELP WITH MY RESEARCH ESPECIALLY PRIMARY.

DAN WYATT BA (HONS) PRODUCT DESIGN

Recyclability.

The handle is too small for large hands. The flash on the handle sometimes is so bad that it digs into my hands.

Pouring when the bottle is full can be difficult, especially for children.

Keep in mind that they don’t use HDPE bottles everywhere. Here in Canada cardboard and PE bags are the most popular milk containers. The PE bags are 1 litre each, but come packed together in twos. The bags are then placed in a PP carafe to hold them. Do a search on google, I’m sure you can find something.

Also, I would encourage you to visit neighbors and friends. See how they store their milk, how they use it. Watch some cooking shows. There are a billion ways to use milk, so there is doubtful to be one perfect design solution.

There is a key with the words, “Caps Lock” on it. If you press it a little green light will go on on the right side of your keyboard; it too has the words “Caps Lock” over it.

Press the Caps Lock key so that the light is OFF! Then type.

It is much easier to read using upper and lower case letters. THAT’S WHY WE HAVE THEM!

Bags make sense to me. Instead of buying a container of milk, you buy it in a bag, and then when you get home, you put the bag…in a container. There’s even a website.

Well ok then my mistake having it on caps also makes it more viewable and stand out.

Any ways back to the milk bottle

So any feelings on these?

Would help my major project

caps lock makes your text stand out in a negative way, dan :x

major problem with milk bottles to me is that they will spill when not standing upright. It can’t be that difficult to design the cap to be tight, can it?

HEY MAJOR DAN…

This one time, not at band camp, I poured myself a glass of milk.

I drank a bit, put the glass down, and realized that the milk was horrid.

Normally, almost out of habit, I always smell the milk before I drink it. However, I didn’t that time, and my brain activated the reverse-button of my digestive process, forcing the bad milk to exit the orifice it entered.

It was quite an experience to say the least.

So, perhaps, some feature your cool milk bottle could do would maybe be able to VISUALLY indicate whether the milk was still fresh.

Also, there are companies now that can manufacture bacteria-resistant plastic:

Or maybe the new bottle could have some auxiliary U.V. light feature to kill germs? Maybe the milk bottle could come with something like a cradle to sit in which would project the U.V. light into the bottle.

just some brainstorming ideas . . .

Cheers M8!

haha…DOO-BEES!

oh wait, what does that have to do with milk?

ahem…back to work for me.
