MG-Rover sale

A little old news now, but Shanghai automaker Nanjing has bought the remains of MG-Rover for pennies. They bought the Longbridge plant, although not the Union deals. They also gain the intellectual property of the BMW developed Rover 75 chassis (still an awesome design imho), the MG TF sportscar and the still-born Rover 45 replacement.

The most significant aspect of the purchase is that it is the first Japanese/NA/European automaker to be acquired by a Chinese company. They have spent little money, but gained alot of brand recognition.

I hope they can bring the next MG sportscar back to America, but their immediate plans are to build MG Rovers for export to Europe. Their are rumours to build lower volume cars at the Longbridge plant in England.
