MFA VS. BFA

IS A MFA MORE VALUABLE THEN A BFA IN INDUSTRIAL DESIGN. I CURRENTLY HOLD A LIBERAL ARTS DEGREE WITH AN EMPHASIZE IN GRAPHIC DESIGN AND I AM CURRENTLY ATTENDING SCHOOL WORKING ON MY BFA IN ID. BUT A COUPLE OF PROFESSORS HAVE TOLD ME TO GO AFTER THE MFA AND A COUPLE HAVE TOLD ME TO JUST STICK WITH THE BFA. ANY ADVISE.

THANKS

Edit

This would have alot to do with your program choices and your career goals.

The BFA will build out your skills (like to get an ID job)

The MFA is usually more conceptual or would prep you for teaching or desing mgt. (your skills still come into the picture)

That’s the upshot iv’e gotten from previous posts. (check the archives)

The school you pick would have more to do with the appropriate chioce though. (different schools have a different emphasis in MFA, and don’t expect to have time to develop skills at that level.)
