material suggestions

i’m designing a canopy bed and for the fabric/skin, i would like to use a durable and semi-translucent material. been looking at fabrics but find them too delicate and easy to puncture. i’m currently looking at vinyl in a bright colour and wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions or came across any new materials where this can be implemented.

…ripstop nylon (as in back-pack material) could work or have you looked at spandex? makes real sexy curves when stretched over a framework…

The plasticizers in vinyl would really stink.
Look at nylon (like the previous post) or kite material.
I used have a hang glider made from ripstop nylon (dacron) that had all sorts of great colors and the material was designed not to rip (thank God!)
