Masters at RCA or Chalmers

Hi guys,

Does anyone has anything to say about masters program at Royal Collage of Art which is called Innovation Design Engineering or one at Chalmers Technical university which is called Industrrial Design Engineering? I mean what are the facilities like, modules, lecturers, quality in general and level of happinies of studying at any of these schools?

You sure picked some expensive cities to study in
I haven’t heard about anything about chalmers actually. Didn’t know they had such a programme. Sounds like the revamped an older program. I’ll poke around to see what people know.

There is a similar program at Lunds university, mechanical engineering with a design specialization. They have a lot of workshop and design classes.

I have a friend in Bristol that came from Chalmers Industrial Design Engineering program - right now she works in Medical development.

also met teachers and a class of students that came over from Chalmers to present some of their work at NASA JSC (in Houston TX). They have a space architecture module in the program and they were there to present their work - apparently they do it every year. There did a good job, and had quality ideas, sketching, execution. Maybe could have used a little work on presentation skills, but that’s normal. Anyway, I was impressed that the school did a ‘field trip’ like that and knew so many people there, though the good exchange rates for the Swedish might have helped the trip happen

The STARS design course is very inspiring! The 5th year students here take part in that every autumn, and go to houston.

Hey,
Thanks for responses guys. I know both cities are expensive, but I care only about the education. I want to get as much as possible, money will come somehow…
I was talking about those two programs because they are for engineering students with aspiration for design, or at least that is how I see it. I don’t have sufficient portfolio to apply to art school.

Sorry i was mixing it up with stockholm. I dont think Gothenburg is especially expensive to live it. Hopefully im heading there myself soon.

What are you gonna do there? Gonna look for work or something like that?

Yessir, trying to land a job in Gothenburg. Im actually going there tomorrow for some meetings. Wish me luck

I feel like I see amazing things from RCA all. the. time. They have ridiculously strong programs in every field, but I haven’t ever heard of Chalmers (call me an ignorant American). I’d say go for RCA. Again, I haven’t been there or know anyone from there personally. But yes, London is expensive.
