MANDATORY Vehicle Equipment Required?

For the State of California.

I’ve been searching for the regulations stating the MANDATORY equipment (brakes, lighting, bumpers, etc.) required on ALL motor vehicles in California. With a particular interest in determining the MINIMUM requirements.

DMV is hopelessly inundated with PDF documents. Anyone have a link to a specific document?

I’d look at the DOT over the DMV. I’ll ring my sister (lawyer) and see if she know’s where to look up a law, other then the legal library at a college.
